Pastor’s Message for Wednesday, April 8, 2020

Dear friends –

In this holiest of weeks, we continue to pause and reflect on our Lord’s final week of life in this earthly place. Below is a Scripture reading and a reflection for today, Wednesday, April 8, or visit the Holy Week Bible Reading Guide.

Tomorrow night, we will share together in a Holy Thursday worship service online beginning at 7:30 p.m. We will recall how Jesus washed his first disciples’ feet and commanded them to do likewise, because of love. We remember the holy meal Jesus shared with them, his Last Supper.
While we are not able to be together in person to celebrate that sacrament, instead, we will share in the Love Feast.

The Love Feast or Agape Meal is a Christian fellowship meal recalling the meals Jesus shared with disciples during his ministry and expressing the koinonia (community, sharing, fellowship) enjoyed by the family of Christ.

Love feasts are more informal than Communion rituals. They do not entail consecration of the bread and “wine.” Any form of bread and beverage may be used. We will join in the feast together, yet apart, in our respective homes.

If you choose to do so, before the service begins, gather and place near you:

  • any kind of bread, or crackers, or rolls
  • water or juice (preferably not grape juice)
  • a basin of water and a towel for each person

Then, join the worship service, which begins at 7:30 p.m. You can reach the service by clicking on the link on our website homepage, which will take you to the service.

If you know anyone who does not have a computer, please let them know that they can connect to the worship services (Thursday, Friday, and Sundays) by dialing in to 610-850-9173. Up to 12 people will have access to the services through this number.

On Friday night, Good Friday, join us online again at 7:30 p.m. for A Service of Shadows as we remember Jesus’ arrest, mocking, suffering, and death. We remember these last moments of Jesus’ earthly life before being laid in a borrowed tomb and we reflect on his love for us that took him there.

WEDNESDAY’s Reading and Reflection

Read who Jesus said he was and the reactions in Luke 20:41-47 & Luke 22:1-6.

Reflection: It is sometimes hard to be a disciple of the truth and the way. Sometimes we want Jesus to do what we want or act the way we feel he should. Think on this and how that led Judas astray.

Blessings, prayers, and peace as we journey.
