Pastor’s Message for Monday, April 20, 2020

Dear Friends,

A colleague posted this prayer, which was written by a member of his congregation. Had I seen this prior to Sunday, I would have included it in our morning prayers, as it certainly speaks to the topic we explored on Sunday – Patience. I offer it for your personal or family use. Keep it with your Bible and in your devotional place for use whenever you may need to remember to wait on the Lord and receive his patience for the journey ahead:

A Prayer for Patience

In these days, when we doubt that our lives will ever be normal again …
Give us patience, oh Lord. Help us believe.

When our jobs are disappearing, our schools are closed, some hospitals are overwhelmed, sometimes we doubt that better days are coming …
Give us patience, oh Lord. Help us believe.

When these internet gatherings feel distant and inadequate, when we miss the warm embrace of our friends and the healing breath of our church.
Give as patience, oh Lord. Help us believe.

When we doubt that our phone calls and offerings are truly helping those in need, when we long to somehow do more …
Give us patience, oh Lord. Help us believe.

When we despair in loneliness and question the need for isolation, while failing to be thankful for our own good health …
Give us patience, oh Lord. Help us believe.

In these days of locked doors and fear of others, we ache for the loving reassurance of Jesus in our midst…
Give us patience, oh Lord. Help us believe.

May you know Jesus in your midst wherever you find yourself this day.
Blessings, prayers, peace, and Easter Hope!
