Pastor’s Message for Saturday, May 2, 2020

Friends, tomorrow is another Sunday that is not happening the way we had planned.

Beginning yesterday, Friday, May 1, our two historic churches – First United Methodist and Cedarville United Methodist have joined together as one Church to journey forward together as Cedarville United Methodist Church.

So, for tomorrow, we were planning a big celebration of welcome and a celebration of what God has done in our churches in the past, even as we step out in faith with God leading us into the future.

What the future might look like, we do not yet fully know. At this time, it remains uncertain when we will be able to hold our first in-person worship service due to COVID-19. Still, we know and trust the God who holds the future, the God who is Faithful, and we follow in Faith.

I am excited about worship tomorrow as we celebrate our first worship service as one congregation! Our Bishop Peggy Johnson and our District Superintendent, the Rev. Dawn Taylor-Storm have sent a word to share with us as we mark, acknowledge and celebrate this day – the first official Sunday when we are one body in Christ. Words of welcome will be extended to our newest friends by long-time friends of Cedarville UMC. And, some of our newest members will offer their words of witness for our journey forward.

I hope you will join us for worship at 10:00 tomorrow morning, May 2, for our online service as we explore the Fruit of the Spirit – Faithfulness.

Blessings as we celebrate God’s faithfulness in the journey!
