Staff Bio

Clare Schilling is the Director of Mission First. She brings an array of hands on experience and talent to this position. Approximately 10 years ago, Clare and her husband, Fred, were looking for a new church; one with heart, a place that cares for one another with people who were doing God’s work. They found that church at First UMC in Pottstown. And as they say, the rest is history. She began by volunteering as the church secretary and was later hired as the Administrative Assistant. During this time, she served on many committees but found her niche as the Mission Coordinator. She began spearheading and managing outreach programs for the surrounding neighborhood. Filled with a passion for helping others and furthering mission in the community, she is now ready to ensure that great things continue to happen at Mission First. Clare also serves as a Crossing Guard on the corner of Beech and Franklin streets. This is another of her personal missions, to be able to help the children with hats, gloves, umbrellas, whatever is needed. In her free time, Clare likes to garden, read and spend time with her grandchildren. Clare is very excited to be the Director of Mission First and begin this adventure of doing God’s work.
